At Alaska Adventures we give you the tools you
need to make your next vacation unforgettable. Whether it's hiking,

an ATV.
You get to determine what kind of adventure
your vacation will be.
Nestled into the base of a
timber-covered bluff at the confluence of Clearwater Creek and Big
River, the lodge is 180 miles west of Anchorage and 80 miles
southeast of McGrath. The headwaters of Big River form the corner of
three distinct regions of Western Alaska. This is such a unique area
it would take a while to describe it thoroughly. Photograph or hunt
wildlife such as bears, wolves, wolverines, moose, caribou, dall
sheep and more! A fishermans haven unlike any other. Fish for king
salmon, silver salmon, chinook salmon, grayling, pike and more! There
are no roads in this area, and we use small planes to transport
vacationers in and out. Once at the lodge you can experience complete
seclusion by foot or by all-terrain vehicle.
The
site is located at approximately Latitude 61° 54' North
and Longitude 154° 33' West.
We have mapped the approximate paths for our over 25 miles of overland trails.
The
elevation of the lodge is just over 1,400 ft. above sea level, but if
you stand on the porch and gaze straight south and work your way
north in a panoramic fashion you'll see a solid line of mountains for
180 degrees. Beginning with the Southern Buttress of the Revelation
Range at 9,200 ft. to Mt. Hesperus at 9,800 ft. and on to the
multiple peaks of between 5,000 to 7,000 ft. of the Terra Cotta
Range. These mountains erupt from their base and dominate the Upper
Big River Canyon.
